How It Works
School Direct offers 2 types of training places:
- 1) School Direct is open to all graduates and is funded by tuition fees paid by the trainee, who may receive a bursary from the National College for Teaching and Leadership.
- 2) School Direct (Salaried) is for graduates with 3 or more years career experience. The trainee is employed as an unqualified teacher by a school and their salary and training is subsidised by the National College for Teaching and Leadership.
Trainee teachers who successfully complete a School Direct course will gain Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). School Direct programmes may also include a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) but this would be at the student's personal cost (circa £3200).
