National College Programmes

New Leadership Curriculum

The National College has launched the new leadership curriculum that gives leaders more freedom to choose the professional  development most relevant to them.

The curriculum is made up of a range of modules on key leadership themes and competencies that reflect the needs of leaders  at different stages in their careers.

The leadership curriculum addresses three broad themes: educational excellence, operational management, strategic leadership,  and currently operates at 3 levels:

Level 1: Leading a team within an organisation

Level 2: Leading beyond a team

Level 3: Aspiring to lead an organisation

Modules can be studied individually or be combined to achieve one of these National College qualifications:

Middle Leadership (NPQML)

Senior Leadership (NPQSL)

National Professional Qualifications for Headship  (NPQH)

Each of the qualifications are delivered at Master's level and recognised by leading universities as contributing to Master's  degrees.

Each module involves approximately 50 hours of blended learning, including approximately 1 day of face-to-face learning,  combined with online learning and in-school activity.
